9ct yellow gold Gents solid reverse hand engraved Lion Rampant seal signet. The lion rampant is one of the oldest crests and is the crest for Scotland. The crest is on the top of the helmet in a coat of arms and began as something to hold the silk mantle to drape over the full suit of armor. This was soaked in water to keep the armor cool in the sun. It has featured as a crest in the arms in the following Scotish, Welsh, Irish and English families.
