Customs Charges

Customs charges outside of the UK

If you are ordering for delivery outside of the UK, your order may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once the goods reach the country of destination. Any such charges levied in relation to customs clearance must be paid by you (the receiver/importer).

Please check your countries import customs charges before ordering.

Why not use a Import Duty Calculator for estimated customs charges.

EU

As of September 2021, the United Kingdom has implemented new customs regulations and charges for shipments to the European Union (EU) following the UK’s exit from the EU’s single market and customs union. These changes were a part of the Brexit process. Please note that customs regulations and charges can vary based on factors such as the value of the goods, the type of goods, and the specific EU country you are shipping to. Here are some key points to consider:

  1. Import Duties and Taxes: When shipping from the UK to the EU, customs duties and taxes may apply. These charges are typically based on the declared value of the goods, their classification, and the specific trade agreements between the UK and the EU. The rates can vary widely depending on the product category.
  2. VAT (Value Added Tax): Value Added Tax is another consideration. VAT is a consumption tax that is typically applied to the value of goods at the point of sale. The specific VAT rate can vary between EU member states. Import VAT is now applicable to goods entering the EU from the UK, and the recipient of the goods may be responsible for paying the VAT.
  3. Product Category: Different product categories may have different customs regulations and charges. Some goods may be subject to additional requirements or restrictions, which could impact the customs charges.
  4. Thresholds: The EU also has a de minimis threshold, which is the value below which goods can be imported duty-free and without paying VAT. As of my last update, the threshold varies by EU country, and it typically ranges from around €22 to €150. Goods exceeding this threshold may be subject to import duties and VAT.
  5. Shipping Method: Similar to other international shipments, the shipping method you choose can impact customs charges. Some shipping providers offer options to prepay customs duties and taxes to expedite the customs clearance process.

It’s important to note that customs regulations and charges are subject to change, and the specific details can vary based on the latest agreements and developments between the UK and the EU. We recommend checking with the relevant customs authorities for the most up-to-date and accurate information.
